Fear Not

Hi, Priscilla here.

I want to share something with you. I've learned that by controlling your thoughts and your words, you can set yourself up for a more joyful life. Therefore, don't say what you fear; say what you want.

What you think and what you say are critical to your outlook. So why focus on the negative when you can focus on the positive? There is a saying that goes, "don't look at the cup as half empty, look at the cup as half full." Your outlook will influence your attitude. Often times a bad outlook on life comes from the feeling of fear toward what you are up against.

Fear is not from God. Fear is crippling, I know this because fear used to grip my life. I was afraid of everything. I thought about and I spoke things that I feared and they actually came to pass. What helped me overcome fear was a pastor that showed me a scripture, during a noon day prayer service, that explains that "God has not given us a spirit of fear". (2 Timothy 1:7) This helped me realize that I needed to make a habit of focusing on the brighter side of things to where I can boldly go out and accomplish the challenges in my life.

The pastor then shared another scripture with me. This one was to help me focus on keeping my thoughts and words away from the fearful mindset that made me worry about all the possible bad things that can and, at times, did happen so that I could in turn focus on positive and encouraging thoughts that will improve my outlook on life. Philippians 4:8 says, "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things."

We can't control the thoughts that come in your minds, but we can control the thoughts that stay in our minds. And I want to leave you all with a quote:

Watch your thoughts; They become words.

Watch your words; They become actions.

Watch your actions; They become habits.

Watch your habits; They become character.

Watch your character; It becomes your destiny.

Fear not. Replace your fear with faith, positive thoughts and positive words. Walk into your affirmed destiny.
